Restaurants

Shogun restaurant will offer you exquisite delicacies, crafted into a splendid presentation, by our “shokunin” (master sushi chef). Sushi, a traditional meal in Japan and a favorite in many regions of the world, is more than just a cuisine; it is a craft, an art form that in the Japanese culture is perfected only through years of practice and repetition, studied under an heir to the samurai tradition. Shogun will allow you to treat yourself with the wonderful creations of the sushi chef, with the freshest seafood, and a whole palette of Japanese dishes, including cooked meals, Kid’s Sushi menu and Funny Sushi. Shogun offers the finest quality of food, prepared on the traditional Teppanyaki counter style setting in which the finest selection of market-fresh seafood is available. Each meal is a work of art prepared right in front of your eyes.

Sushi Etiquette:

  • Traditionally served in counter style restaurants by master chefs who make and present each order.
  • When first seated, a server must bring a “oshibori” hot towel rolled on a basket tray, for you to wipe your hands and place it back in the basket.
  • When not using chopsticks they must be placed parallel on the table or in the “hashi oki”, the holder for the chopsticks.
  • Traditionally, only sake, tea or beer are considered appropriate drinks to be ordered.
  • It is considered rude to order drinks from the sushi chef, only food orders are appropriate.
  • Sushi is usually eaten with fingers, in one or two bites, however, many have chosen to use chopsticks instead.
  • Do not pass food from one person to another, using chopsticks as this resembles a Japanese funeral ceremony.

Sashimi cuts:

  • Hira Zukuri – rectangular cut used primarily for fish with fragile flesh
  • Ito Zukuri - A thin cut usually a sixteenth of an inch thick used for fillets such as squid.
  • Kaku Zukuri – A cube cut, approximately three-quarters of an inch square and is usually used for tuna and yellowtail.
  • Uzu Zukuri – A paper thin cut, on that is so thin the plate is visible through the fish.
